Megan Moore grew up in Huntsville, AL. She studied Illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She moved to Minneapolis in 2002, to be with the man she is now married to, and began showing her art locally. She is a member of Studiopolis, a nine-artist studio in the Northrup King Building. She continues to show her work in local galleries and shops and at many art fairs. She does freelance illustration work in addition to personal and commissioned paintings, and works part-time for Minnesota Public Radio doing graphic production work in the marketing department.
My work is a study of form, color and composition. Painting in acrylics and oils, I create illustrative images with strong line work and a sense of balance and calm. My style is influenced by Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts Movement, which is sometimes cited as a prelude to Modernism. I am inspired by naturally occurring patterns and organic forms. I explore pattern, light and shadow, and color in my paintings. My background in illustration manifests in many of my works, lending a narrative nature to the compositions.
